3.1 Phillip Lim blazer, Saba silk tank and felt hat, Topshop pants, Wittner ‘Fast’ heels, Zara belt, Chloe bag.

Out on the town being all artsy in my very first piece by Phillip Lim. I was uncertain about this blazer to begin but now I can’t imagine life without it – even if’ I’ve only worn it once! I love the luxury of Phillip Lim, with its monogrammed buttons, luxurious silk lining (white on the body, navy on the sleeveless – how thoughtful!) and just the simple pleasure I take in saying the words Phillip and Lim.

Blazers make wearing pants bearable for me.

    Ah, simple pleasures.

Camilla and Marc ‘oh my terrace’ dress, Veronika Maine blazer, Chloe ‘Margaret’ hobo bag, Saba ‘Maria’ platforms, hat from JJ markets, crystal necklace compliments of Mostly Clothes (shop here), Peter Lang cuff.

It’s amazing what a hectic work schedule can do. I barely recall the happenings of the weekdays past and yet the weekends resonate so strongly in my memory. When life gets intense, without a doubt, the first thing I seem to do is think about Saturdays – ones nostalgic and past and the others I eagerly await. It’s such a blissfully self-contained intermission from life’s obligations, wedged beautifully between Friday’s strenuous grind and Sunday’s lazy but equally foreboding air.

The above photos were taken on such a perfect Saturday a couple of weeks ago. There was nothing but the Paddington sunlight specking happiness onto the street’s lush green borders. This simple marvel facilitated my window-posing (the blogger’s version of window shopping) so perfectly, I seized the moment to speckle some attention on some new and old favourites. In the former category, there is the dress I had yet the chance to entertain and the heels I can no longer imagine doing without (love love). In the latter is a piece that has become an affectionate staple in my collection of trinkets, the beautiful necklace Cristina so thoughtfully sent me a couple of months back. I triple love its unapologetic aesthetic, its delicate boldness and of course, its bullet shell casing that makes me feel that little bit bad-ass.

In all the right ways, of course.

Saba silk dress, Wittner ‘Simoney’ wedge, vintage Bally bag, Saba felt hat.

Torrential winds were not the only thing I had to fight off last Saturday night, out on the  town.

First off, there were the shoes. I love them to bits but their insane incline totally made walking the downhill slope from car to restaurant (BLACK by ezard at The Star) an ankle death wish. All I had to counterbalance the fear of stacking it was my love of geometry, and of course the stacked platforms themselves.

Post Wagyu wonderland, we then set out to distance ourselves as much as possible from being grand-people (young people who act like old people). Having left our precautionary coats at home, the Boy and I braved the chilly evening with every intention of sampling the offerings of the Sydney Festival opening night. Our enthusiasm lasted the whole half hour and 10 kilometre radius we circled trying to find a park. Alas, no such luck.

Finally, we admitted defeated and headed home in time for our nanna naps, which contrary to our young and sprightly intentions, lasted until the morning. So much for being cool kids!

MNG silk blouse, Willow tweed skirt, Bally suede peep-toes.

If I was a celebrity, there would be word all over town about my stint in rehab or a Beverley Hills nip/tuck clinic by now. Thankfully, I am no such delinquent diva and without such addictive or obsessive tendencies, or the finances to fund such a lifestyle.

In truth, I went through a lifestyle change of my own. I started a new job which required a degree of attention and focus that I had not previously committed. It made me more ‘serious’, at least for a little while and blogging about fashion and frivolous follies somehow got lost in the new rhythm.

It’s been over two months since my last blog post and it took me  almost as much time to realise that I actually missed it. I missed getting excited about planning, documenting, expressing and most importantly, sharing. I missed the friends I made, the ones exceptionally sweet enough to have felt and acknowledged my virtual absence.

In my previous post, I proclaimed that I was back (“with a Wang”, memorably). Unfortunately, I didn’t keep true to my word.

Here’s to take two – an inevitable return, without the dramatics. There’s no cape, no gale force winds, no Margaret Mitchell allusions here – just simple old me, doing what I do and wearing material extensions of myself. Same same but different.

Alexander Wang dress, Steve Madden Heels, Peter Lang cuffs. Shot in Rockdale.

Just a quick post to say that I’m back. I know I’ve been away for a while, but this time I hope to be back for good. And seriously, what better way to return than with Alexander? This dress is my first Alexander Wang piece, and if I have anything to do with it (bank account funds pending), it definitely won’t be the last.

There are some clothes that are practical and aesthetically pleasing, but then again there are others that look and feel like a moving work of art. This is definitely the latter. The conception and construction is so out of this world, you’d think you were wearing a Salvador Dali dream. That made no sense whatsoever, but that’s largely the point.

In line with the freakish genius of its designer, it took me about thirty minutes to work out how to wear this dress. And I think think I’ve definitely gained some IQ points in the process of solving this pleated puzzle. But once on, it became both the strangest and most fun piece I’ve ever owned. Perfect in gale force winds, as the photos will attest, taking me just that little step closer to being ‘Gone with the Wind’.

    Rhett, I’m coming!

    * I almost published this post with the title ‘Back with a Wang’, but no matter how great the pun was, it sounded just that little bit too perverted.
